On Thursday, November 26, 2009, the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce awarded Lundy Construction with the distinction of Gold Winner - Small Business of the Year.  The presentation was made at the annual Ottawa Business Achievement Awards held at Hampton Inn Conference Centre.  We congratulate all finalists and award winners on their business achievements and wish them every success.

Lundy’s achievements as a business leader were assessed in the following categories:  Business Growth/Sales, Profitability/Expansion; Job Creation/Employee Relations; Customer Service/Quality; Innovation/Research & Development; and Community/Charitable Involvement/Environmental Responsibility.

Lundy Construction is proud of our highly professional staff, whose consistent efforts have earned this recognition.

“What I like most about this award is that it honours our company as a whole - this award does not belong to any one person and would not be possible without the success of the team.  As a company, we are on a continual path of improvement and this award confirms to me that we are on the right track.“

Announcement: Beechwood Team Receives National Design Award

Canadian Wood Council 2008 Ontario Wood Works! Award Winners
Institutional Wood Design, less than $10 million
Beechwood National Memorial Centre,
Ottawa, ON

This past Fall, we were thrilled to be recognized with an award from the Canadian Wood Council for our Beechwood National Memorial Centre project. There were many outstanding entries in our category from all over Canada. The awards gala gave us our “15 minutes of fame” and topped off a wonderful experience building one of Canada’s newest landmarks honouring the lives of all Canadians.

Wood was used throughout the design, both for structural as well as aesthetic purposes. The design of the multi-faith sacred space derives its inspiration from the geometry of nature. Branching, glue-laminated Douglas fir structural members evoke trees and upswept arms. Articulated wood panels finished the interior and provide acoustical control. Black walnut, oak and pine wood harvested from the site was milled to serve as various trim elements, paired with oak plywood.
