Previously known as the “Legion Building”, a group of business owners purchased the six story 46,000sf building in 2006. Although the building had be well maintained since its construction in the late 1950s, it was a Class “C” space at best and needed a significant building program for infrastructure, common areas, and tenant spaces to make the building viable.
The construction program began with a complete structrual redesign of the entrance lobby and accessiblity scheme. Enhances to this space incldued a 2nd level balcony overlooking the entry, a “LULA” life for handicap accessibility, wood wall panels, stainless steel / patterned glass railings, a new backlit feature wall, and interior/exterior panels of stainless steel mesh.
Improvements in the rest of the building were to tenant specifications and involved raising interior ceiling heights, new HVAC, plumbing, and electrical distribution sytems, custom millwork / wood paneling, ceramic frit glass features, and other dramatic architectural enhancements. The transformation of 359 Kent has yielded dramatic results and reaffirmed to the Taggart Group the great potential in rejuvenating downtown addresses.
