Reaching a cost of over $17 million, Lundy Construction was responsible for this fast-tracked, multi-phased, building renewal for large Federal Government Clients such as Industry Canada and The Office of the Auditor General. This project was completed at the end of August 2002.
The focus of this initiative was to meet aggressive schedule deadlines while taking into consideration all of the factors involved in working in an occupied building. With renovation activities well underway, a million-dollar skylight replacement program was added to the construction program.
The skylight section of the work involved changing the angles glass walls along the perimeter of the roof eleven stories over Ottawa’s busiest downtown streets.
On this project, new concepts in mechanical and electrical base building components were utilized. Building systems, such as lighting and ventilation, were installed to provide the end users a much greater ability to manipulate individual work environments.
Commissioning procedures were set in place from the onset of the project to ensure the smooth integration of updated electrical rooms on each floor, tie-ins of sophisticated HVAC equipment into the base building systems.
