Riverside Hospital Renovations
Ophthalmology
Driven by the closure of the long-standing eye-care facility at the Grace Hospital, the 16,000sqft, unit at the Riverside Campus went from the demolition stage to a full surgery schedule in 3 ½ months. The project schedule was actually accelerated after a month, expanding to a double shifted, 7 day / week construction schedule to meet the hospital’s master plan.
Work activities were coordinated with the hospital staff on a daily basis so as not to disturb the Riverside’s ongoing surgery load on adjacent floors.
The work of this project included surgical suites, recovery areas, public spaces, and administrative offices.
Shirley E. Greenberg Women's Health Centre
This state of the art facility opened in 2005 is considered to be the new centre for women’s health care in Eastern Ontario. The 16,000-sqft space is divided between offices for a variety of health specialists and clinical evaluation / treatment areas, focusing primarily on cancer screening and mature women’s health. All spaces within the centre have been detailed to a higher level than normally found in typical clinical spaces, including finishes of stained woodwork, granite, hardwood flooring and decorative glass. The facility anticipates it will serve 30,000 women annually.
Ambulatory Care Clinics
Concentrating on the complete redevelopment of the 2nd, 4th, and 6th floors of the Riverside Campus, the 40,000-sqft project was created to house several types of Ambulatory Care Clinics: a Diagnostic Imaging area and Endoscopy clinics as well as all of the office and support areas needed within each new area.
Work was phased to ensure the continued operation of other areas of the building, including the Eye Care Centre on the 3rd floor.
