Canada Aviation and Space Museum
This 18,000ft² addition to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum contains a 250-seat multi-purpose theatre, atrium, state-of-the-art classrooms, and accessible washrooms. A Snowbirds Tutor jet is suspended from the ceiling of the new atrium.
A new 2500ft² boutique was constructed in the existing building and the cafeteria was modernized and expanded. These enhancements have provided much needed space for programming, outreach activities and special cultural events, and now represent a significant portion of the Museum’s revenue.
Lundy recently won the General Contractors Association of Ottawa Award of Merit for our work on the Canada Aviation and Space Museum addition and renovation.

- Early in the project, Lundy identified that the addition’s heating had not been clearly marked out in the mechanical drawings. The project team coordinated with the Mechanical engineers, client, and subtrade involved to provide appropriate temporary heating for the addition through the winter months, avoiding any damage to the area and keeping the project on schedule.
- A number of scheduling issues arose with the structural steel for the project. A critical path item, this presented pressing concerns for the entire project team. Lundy worked closely with the client and the subtrades involved to resolve the issue as soon as possible and performed intensive schedule control to ensure that the project finished on time.
