Ottawa Courthouse Green Roof Project

The Ottawa Courthouse is a prominent civic building in the core of downtown Ottawa. Lundy was a subcontractor on the project to replace the original conventional inverted roof assembly with a living green roof. This project will add over 73,000ft² of green roof to Ottawa’s cityscape.

Lundy was responsible for the North East terrace entrance vestibule. Our scope of work included minor selective demolitions, structural steel, the aluminum entrance, framing, and associated minor interior alterations.

Constructability Issues

  • The Ottawa Courthouse is a high-security building in downtown Ottawa. As security was a priority on the work site, Lundy made sure to coordinate security clearances for all on-site workers well before they were needed.
  • With the exception of the work performed in 2012, all work had to be performed after hours to prevent operations within the facility from being interrupted. Lundy developed detailed schedules designed to ensure the most work was completed at these irregular hours as possible.
