Position Overview

Reporting to the V.P. Finance & Corporate Services, the Construction Health and Safety Coordinator (CHSC) will support the Health and Safety Manager with the implementation and execution of all Health and Safety initiatives, and compliance with legislative and company requirements. The successful individual will work closely with project site teams to ensure all applicable health and safety practices are in place, understood and being used effectively to prevent incidents or injuries. A passion for health and safety, strong communication skills and the ability to coach and train, are all key skills that the CHSC will possess.

Responsibilities

  • Update and track safety documentation
  • Prepare, update and maintain safety binders
  • Book, update and track company health and safety training
  • Assist/perform health and safety inspections, issue corrective actions and ensure those corrections are implemented
  • Assist in all tasks related to COR2020 and the WSIB Health and Safety Excellence program
  • Coach site teams with regards to MP Lundy health and safety policies
  • Assist in hazard analysis and the development of controls
  • Support in the implementation of emergency response plans and assist in executing emergency drills
  • Monitor and report on health and safety statistics
  • Research new policies/procedures/legislation that may be applicable to the company

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience
  • Post-Secondary education in Health and Safety
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication is required
  • Experience in Microsoft office applications is required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain good relationship with all stakeholders
  • Ability and experience with conflict resolution is a strong asset
  • Experience with Procore is an asset
  • Experience with COR2020 and the WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program are strong assets
  • Experience writing policies and procedures is an asset
  • Must be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance
  • A valid driver’s license and consistent vehicle access required
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time while using a computer
  • Ability to climb ladders, navigate active construction sites, and push/pull/lift/carry/manipulate objects up to 20lbs on a regular basis
