Addition & Renovation
This $2,100,000 contract with The Sisters of Charity of Ottawa Health Services was won on a competitive, lump sum bid. Within the scope of this contract, 5 floors of the Elisabeth Bruyère Health Center in downtown Ottawa received extensive renovations.
Multiple phasing of the work formed a critical component to the scheduling and organization of the project, which spanned over eight months. As within every occupied facility, Lundy maintained clear and constant communication with the Owner’s representatives to ensure that any construction-related inconveniences were kept to a minimum.

Contract Start June 2000
Completion July 2004
- The heavily wooded site in the heart of Rockcliffe Park provided the development team with several interesting construction options. The school made it clear, however, that the massive trees scattered on the site were crucial to the school`s identity. The design was altered accordingly, shrinking the floor plate enough to nestle the building within meters of the hundred foot-high trees. A tower crane designed for a building four times the height of the Junior School was erected to ensure that the trees were not damaged by the hoisting operations.
- The second floor addition to the original school building was built over the existing school entrance and involved careful planning to ensure the structure could support the new loading. Special light-weight concrete was used with the new steel structure. All steel was preordered during the winter months and erected during the two-week March Break period, to ensure that the facility operations were not affected by the heavy equipment and noise.
